"Alchemy is a rainbow bridging the chasm between the earthly and heavenly planes, between matter and spirit...alchemy, the royal sacerdotal art, also called the hermetic philosophy, conceals, in esoteric texts and enigmatic emblems, the means of penetrating the very secrets of Nature, Life, and Death, of Unity, Eternity and Infinity.
Viewed in the context of these secrets, that of gold making is, relatively speaking, of little consequence: something comparable to the super-powers (siddhis) sometimes obtained by Great Yogis, which are sought not after for their own sake, but are important by-products of high spiritual attainment." from Alchemy by S.K. de Rola
The Philosopher’s Stone: This is the Stone of the Wise said to confer the ability to transmute base metals into gold, prolong life, and cure all diseases. With it, the Elixir of Immortality could be attained.
This idea of a Stone, of actual physical object as a means of bringing about dramatic changes in the health and well being of an individual, is the basis for most experiments in all three Kingdoms that the alchemist will progressively work through.
from Marc Stavish: Practical Plant Alchemy
According to Stavish: "In alchemy everything is composed of three parts: Sulphur (Soul or individualized essence), Mercury (Life Force), and Salt (Physical Body). It is the Work of the alchemist to separate and recombine these three basic principles as often as necessary until are in perfect proportion and harmony with each other. When this harmony is achieved, the creation of a ‘stone’ of physical object used in the transformation of the alchemist, or another, via a medium, such as water, wine, or direct contact will be produced."

Some notes on the work of Louis Kervran "with Louis Kervran's profoundly important work we could stand upon the threshold of a turning point in the physical sciences, and we seem to have the meeting ground between contemporary Physics and an esoteric science of the ethers. One can only hope that such research is fully followed up and the profound implications for the present rigid view of the mechanism of living matter are not missed. Indeed can it be that the transmutations of the ancient alchemists may again gain scientific respectability?"

"The ancient alchemists have discovered that matter can be volatilized and exalted. They have found ways to spiritualize matter to make it be fitting as a proper vehicle for the higher forces of nature. " It ascends from earth to heaven and acquires the power of the Above…." To me these salts are now truly sacred and are ready to be used as a vehicle for manifestation, to clothe and give garment to our purified couple, our sulfur and mercury."
Atomic Transmutation
Joshua Gulick's Hypothesis: "The basis behind the "alchemical" idea of elemental transmutation (changing one element into another -- mercury to gold, etc.) is to kick a proton out of an atomic nucleus and therefore drop it's atomic number to the element that is desired. Scientists have already done this by accelerating protons and ramming them into nuclei at wildly high speeds, but this method is quite inefficient and this inefficiency has been accepted by most as proof that the concept is unworkable. However, this ramming method is poorly conceived at best.
"To accomplish efficient transmutations, the material to be transmuted must be allowed to change in a more natural manner..." CLICK HERE for the rest of the story. |

Groups With Beliefs in Alchemy
The Philosophers of Nature (currently closed, supposed to open under new guise) According to Mark Stavish "The Philosophers of Nature (PON) offer a correspondence course covering all aspects of “the Great Work including a highly informative two-year course on plant work, followed by a six-year course on metals and minerals. PON also sponsors an annual week long conference, in the spring or summer, offering practical instruction, as well as a ‘traveling seminar' for interested groups. Both organizations can be contacted via their Websites or traditional correspondence."

The AMORC Rosicrucian Order is known to occasionally offer courses in alchemy. Check with them for current offerings.

"In fact, scientists already have transmuted gold! It is a terribly expensive process and the amount of gold is tiny, but it has been done. In addition, this man-made gold is radioactive and thus unstable. That is, it does not remain as made for very long. Rather, it changes into something else or just disappears.
"This brings us to Thomas Henry Moray, of Salt Lake City, Utah, who claims to have made gold which is stable and long lasting enough to be assayed by the ordinary methods used to determine the presence of gold. He says his process uses no cyclotron or other atom- smashing device.
"Not only does Moray say he has transmuted gold, but he writes me that he has produced, or perhaps "treated" is a better word, ordinary lead, "Pb", in such a way that it will not melt under 2000 degrees Fahrenheit!" How the Use of Mercury-based Compounds May Have Contributed to the Longevity of Certain Sects in India
WARNING: The following information is for educational purposes ONLY! DO NOT ATTEMPT OR EVEN CONSIDER ATTEMPT TO INGEST MERCURY FOR ANY REASON! USE OF MERCURY IS CONSIDERED TO BE DEADLY. Very small quantities of these atoms can cause serious biological damage ! See Toxic Elements and Symptoms of Elemental Toxicity. and Heavy Metal Toxicology. AGAIN, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE INGEST MERCURY OR USE IT IN ANY CHEMICAL OR ALCHEMICAL EXPERIMENTS!
Some information about mercury from A Vital Vastness: ".... Mercury, a heavy metal, serves as an example of this toxicity. This element is so toxic that a spill from a thermometer, those tiny drops, can seriously contaminate an entire room. Mining and mercury utilization have increased the mercury content of rivers by about four-fold or more. The "Interference Index" -- an indication of how much humans have disturbed an element's natural levels -- for mercury is the highest of those metals examined, being placed at 1,000% or ten times its natural level. The Greenland ice sheet displays a three-fold increase of mercury in the period between 1952 and 1965 when compared to 1951 and prior; it is undoubtedly worse now. High concentrations have been detected in shellfish particularly, and other fish (with tuna and swordfish as the main species involved). Soil concentrations have also increased making its presence in all foods. This does not include pesticides, paint, some batteries, fungicides, fabric softeners, air conditioning filters, furniture polish, barometers, antiseptics, thermometers, floor wax and anti-mildew agents, all of which contain mercury as an active ingredient...." |
"The most famous of the mercury-based compounds is the rasayana (rejuvanative) Makaradwaja. Makaradwaja consists (primarily) of mercury, sulfur, and gold. This compound is capable of providing endurance, energy, increased immune function and longevity to its taker. Makaradwaja seems to work by allowing prana, tejas and ojas to flow into parts of the subtle physiology where it would not normally be able to flow, clearing many of the blockages which may be present. If taken prior to meditation or even sleep, it can even be seen to permeate the nadis (subtle energy-channels). [According to certain Indian sects] Mercury allows the body to digest the otherwise only partly digestible element of gold. This allows the concentrated "solidified sunlight," gold, to gild the bodies immune system and aura. On a subtle level it actually has the appearance of a volatile mercury, streaming through the bodies channels. It is excellent for diseases such as A.I.D.S. and different forms of cancer. The average treatment routine, repeated on a yearly basis, should last for about a month, depending on the individual, usually in the coldest months of the year.
"Members of the Bhairavi cult, worshippers of a particularly wrathful form of Lord Shiva, have been known to live hundreds of years through the alchemical use of such mercury-based compounds. Indeed some are said to have obtained immortality (by overcoming their innate addiction to time). Statues of the Bhairavi cult display some of the characteristics of this incredible life extension; beings so mutated from alchemical sadhana as to resemble other dimensional Bhairavis more than humans. This is their actual appearance, yet they may appear as any age to the observer, and do not usually display their true appearance to the uninitiated"

Question: What MIGHT Makaradwaja and Monoatomic Gold have in common?
Information to consider: "Substances in colloidal suspensions, even in quantities far above the recognized lethal level, have few toxic effects. Fish, for example, will survive and thrive in water with six times the lethal concentration of lead, arsenic, and many other substances considered toxic if the water has the right charge and the material is in colloidal form. In non-colloid form, fish death is rapid at far lower concentrations. The reason is beyond the scope of this paper but living systems can take what is needed from colloids and pass the rest with little harm. If surface charge and carrying capacity are degraded, colloids begin to clump together into larger and larger (although still microscopic) particles.
"The electrical charge is a function of the total surface area of the particles. A one-inch metal cube has a surface area of 6 square inches. Divide it into small colloids and the area increases to over 5 million square inches each with a small electrical charge.
"Reduction in the surface charge first causes gentle settling of small particles, as colloids lose enough charge to clump and settle out of the liquid. The heavy metals generally come out first and symptoms of heavy metal poisoning may appear. As surface area and charge decrease, the larger particles bind to receptors, preventing chemical release at the synapse, which may be disguised as mental, emotional or physical problems. The process is little different from scale forming in pipe. Arterial sclerosis is another example. As the carrying charge of the blood is reduced, material deposits on the artery walls, just as scale does on the pipe.
"Obviously, lead, arsenic, cadmium or other trace, heavy metals in a living system react the same. As the electrical charge drops, they are no longer colloids, settle out and clump at receptors. Reduction of the carrying charge now appears as lead or other heavy metal poisoning. Lead poisoning or other heavy metal poisoning is an effect not the cause. The cause is the reduction in carrying charge. The amount of lead may be the same over the whole life span and may not manifest itself until other factors reduce the total system charge."

Transmutations: The Roots of the Dream
"When you wish to use such a crucible, place it in a charcoal fire, and when it becomes red add some mercury As soon as the mercury moves, add lead. When the yellow coloration which begins at the sides has met at the center, pour the contents on the ground, and it will immediately become gold."
"As is obvious from this recipe, no high demands were put on the quality of the resulting substance, which was in this case a lead-based alloy with copper as the yellow coloring agent. Traces of mercury from the cinnabar and of arsenic from the realgar could be expected as well. Like many alchemical recipes Ko Hung’s description is rather vague; hardly any reliable conclusion about the final product can be drawn. Recently, however, chemical explanations of some of the processes described by alchemists has been given (8). Further use of this alleged gold was rather doubtful. According to Ko Hung after soaking for a hundred days in . . . a red panicled millet wine, this gold softens sufficiently to be miscible with other things. If one pill of it the size of a gram is taken three times daily until one pound has been consumed, . . . all illnesses will quit the body”
"As stated in. further comments on the use of this recipe, even a dead corpse could be brought back to life with this elixir."
"Wu-ch’eng tzu’s recipe illustrates clearly this aspect of Chinese alchemy- it was important to prepare a yellow product resembling gold. In the cited case there was no gold in this alloy at all. Many recipes like this one using as starting substances cinnabar and realgar explain why be-tween AD 820 and 859 at least six Chinese emperors were poisoned by “elixir of life” (9)." |
