Raw by Charlie Trotter and Roxanne Klein
"The raw-food movement has
arrived in the culinary mainstream, with top chefs like Charlie
Trotter, Thomas Keller, and Norman Van Aken espousing the wonders
of "living food." Prepared with basic techniques such as
juicing, dehydrating, and slicing, raw food has all of its
nutritional value intact since it isnt subjected to the
enzyme-rupturing process that intense heat induces. Trotters
10-course raw-food tasting menus have converted many a skeptic,
while Roxanne Kleins eponymous restaurant in Larkspur,
California, has become a mecca for raw-food devotees. In RAW,
six-time James Beard Awardwinner Trotter collaborates with Klein
to produce a landmark collection of over 100 recipesthe ultimate
tribute to the culinary heights that this dynamic cuisine can
reach. The chefs exalt the innate wholesomeness and beauty of
fruits and vegetables in such innovative, remarkably flavorful
dishes as Heirloom Tomato Soup with Alberquina Olives and Shaved
Fennel; Peppercorn-Crusted Cashew Cheese with Honey Comb, Medjool
Dates, and Dried Apricots; Polenta with Wild Mushroom Ragout; and
Watermelon Soup with Sharlyn Melon Granitι. Artfully presented,
healthful, and deeply satisfying, raw food is not about austerity,
but rather the celebration of food in its glorious natural state.
In such skilled hands, its nothing short of a revolution in the
way we cook and eat.

Sunfood Cuisine: A Practical Guide to Raw Vegetarian Cuisine
by Frederic
Patenaude "I have been waiting for this book for
nearly two years. I now have the book and have been trying out
some of the recipes. It's great to have someone talk about how to
make the best raw soups, salads and others. Fred includes guides
to create your own recipes. A very good book, well worth the
price. " Michael Quest, Chatfield, MN reviewer |

Hooked on Raw by Rhio Wonderful! This is my
favorite live foods recipe book. It's a great book for people new
to raw foods and those of us who've been traveling this path (or
trying to) for some time. I use it as both a reference and a
recipe book. "Hooked on Raw," Nomi Shannon's "Raw Gourmet," and
Frederic Patenaude's "The Sunfood Cuisine" are the three best out
there.... I have most of the major raw foods recipe books, and I
rarely open any but these three anymore. Mostly I eat simple
fruits and prepare soups or salads, but these books are perfect
for company meals and pot luck suppers...and the occasional
elaborate meal. Rhio talks about several transitions to raw foods,
including her own, as well as presents different sides of many of
the controversies within the raw foods movement -- all without
being dogmatic. Her premise is that we all must choose what is
right for ourselves based on our own educated opinions and
knowledge of our bodies." Reviewed by a reader from

Warming Up to Living Foods by Elysa Markowitz and Gabriel
Cousens
Author Elysa Markowitz hosts a popular public access television
series out of Los Angeles, Elysa's Raw and Wild Food Show.
"Friendly Intro to Living Foods Cuisine. ... introduces
us to living foods by way of imaginative recipes, great
instructions, variations, and the option of warming the foods (but
not above 105 degrees F). The book begins with the story of how
Elysa came to raw foods. She moves on to providing a menu for 7
days for each meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, plus snacks
and drinks). For example, in the breakfast section, there are 7
days' worth of breakfast meals, and then in the lunch section,
there are 7 days' worth of lunch meals, etc. In other words, there
are a lot of recipes in this small volume! Vegan Girl, Mesa

Dining in the Raw by Rita Romano "Very
Informative! I am a vegan and am thinking about a raw diet.
This is a great transitional book!
Even though all of the recipes are not raw there is so much needed
to know information before the recipes. I would suggest buying
this book for a health nut that is not a vegetarian, I think they
would definitely make the switch. Some might find the title
deceiving but its a nice book to have even if you're a raw foodist."

Sproutman's Kitchen Garden by Steve Meyerowitz
"Of all the un-cook books I have on eating a high raw
diet, I find this one of the best. It has a great variety
of recipes and is fun to read. Even if you only eat raw
now and again, you can still get a lot of good ideas from
this book. Buy this book and it will keep you in new
healthy recipe ideas for years. Also check out Mr
Meyerowits's book on Juice fasting, I've found it to be
one of the best available." Tasmania Australia Reviewer |

Most vegetarian books are filled with
odd recipes and with odder still ingredients. This book
has absolutely fantastic recipes - delicious, nutritious
and HEALTHY. Ingredients are readily available at the
local grocery or at the Health Food Store. I wish I had
grown up eating this way instead of waiting until I am 60!
