Jon Stewart, host of the 4 nights a week "The Daily Show," is a former standup comic turned tv host who, with his insightful wit, sardonic rhetoric and satiric but incisive "take no prisoners' glimpses into the American political and popular culture scene. may indeed be one of the very few television anchors who you can trust with 'telling it how it is'!
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart's Official Website "... One anchor, six correspondents, zero credibility.
If you're tired of the stodginess of the evening newscasts and you can't bear to sit through the spinmeisters and shills on the 24-hour cable news network, don't miss The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the nightly half-hour series unburdened by objectivity, journalistic integrity or even accuracy.
The Emmy and Peabody Award-winning Daily Show takes a reality-based look at news, trends, pop culture, current events, politics, sports and entertainment with an alternative point of view. In each show, anchorman Jon Stewart and a team of correspondents, including Aasif Mandvi, Wyatt Cenac, John Oliver, Jason Jones and Samantha Bee, comment on the day's stories, employing actual news footage, taped field pieces, in-studio guests and on-the-spot coverage of important news events.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart -- it's even better than being informed...."
According to IMDB "... Jon Stewart is just hitting his stride at the age of 38. It's amazing that it has taken this long for people to embrace his sarcastic, sardonic and incisive sense of humor. Of particular note was a regular "gig" on "The Larry Sanders Show" (1992). Playing himself, Stewart was the oft-timed "Guest Host" of "The Larry Sanders Show". He became as much a part of the show's fabric as some of the regular performers. He has emerged as a bonafide television personality with his ascension to host of "The Daily Show" (1996)/Comedy Central since taking over for Craig Kilborn in 1999...". America's Anchors: Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert faked it until they made it. Now they may truly be the most trusted names in news "... I thought Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert might be a little nervous to meet with me. I was the real news commentator, after all, and they were the mock. They threw spitballs at presidents; I interviewed presidents before throwing spitballs at them. I had crisscrossed the globe to cover news stories, while these guys just put on dark suits and threw up imported backgrounds on a green screen. No doubt they would try to impress me with some weighty discussion about world affairs or the midterm elections. But when I walked into Colbert's office at The Colbert Report, just off Tenth Avenue in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen, the two barely acknowledged me. Stewart, rumpled in a gray tee over a long-sleeved shirt, khaki cargo pants, black Timberland boots and a Mets cap, was sprawled in a chair with takeout coffee. Colbert, neat in a long-sleeved navy shirt, blue pants and wire-rimmed glasses, was sitting up straight next to him, holding a paper plate of fruit. They were already deep in a weighty discussion...." CLICK HERE to read the rest of the story in this Rolling Stone Magazine interview by Maureen Dowd back in 2006
Jon Stewart according to Wikipedia "... Jonathan "Jon" Stewart (born Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz; November 28, 1962) is an American comedian, television host, and political satirist. He is best known as host of The Daily Show, a satirical news program airing on Comedy Central.
Stewart started as a stand-up comedian but later branched out to television, hosting Short Attention Span Theater for Comedy Central. He went on to host his own show on MTV, called The Jon Stewart Show, and then hosted another show on MTV called You Wrote It, You Watch It. He has also had several film roles as an actor.
Stewart became the host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central in early 1999. He is also a writer and co-producer of the show. After Stewart joined, The Daily Show steadily gained popularity and critical acclaim leading to his first Emmy Award in 2001.
Stewart himself has also gained significant acclaim as a critic of the Bush administration and of personality-driven media shows, in particular the coverage of the U.S. news media networks CNN, Fox News Channel and MSNBC.
Critics say Stewart benefits from a double standard: he critiques other news shows from the safe, removed position of his "fake news" desk. Stewart himself agrees, countering that neither his show nor his channel purports to be anything other than satire and comedy.
Jon Stewart Faces of with Jim Cramer and Wins ... Exposing Yet ANOTHER Hypocritical Fraud!
".... I’ve been a mega-fan of TDS for years, but I am compelled to make this attempt to make contact. Jon … you have elevated yourself from mere mortal comic genus to a god (a lesser god … not the one true God mind you) or saint or perhaps super hero as a result of the Jim Cramer interview. (read that massacre.) Both of you were civil, articulate, fair and yet you were relentless in making your case for the average guy who’s getting creamed by the corrupt systemic “game” being played in the financial back room. Thank you for reminding Cramer and the world that this is no game, and definitely no joke! And that real people are getting hurt, big time! Long Live Jon Stewart and The Daily Show!!!..."
