New Art... New Artists
Mark Wagner: Images and Ideas for a creative world

Andrew Pepper: Light Sculpture, Holography, Installations

John Pugh: Master of Trompe L'Oeil Murals

New Materials - New Media - New Art  "....This show was inspired by a visit to the Biennial exhibit at a famous New York museum. (The name is withheld to protect the innocent.) At the show, the Techno-Impressionist artists saw the latest in cutting-edge art, embodying the use of high tech materials and technology such as urethane, epoxy, vinyl, carnauba, and video. Many of these pieces were "experimental art" that resembled brightly colored entrails, an industrial accident, or a picture from a venereal disease lecture.

"Further inspiration was derived from the artists who produced mega-events such as wrapping buildings and blowing up bridges...."

Early Techno-Impressionistic Art

Techno-Impressionism: Art from the Sea

Dale Chihuly:

Sparkles on the underside of slick, moving wavelets rimmed with light, gently cupping an ephemeral bit of living jelly in my hand, then turning to glimpse a dazzling sight: corals, sponges, anemones, in a riot of soft pinks, blazing reds, luminous oranges, all marked with the disciplined wildness that I love in nature - and in the Seaforms. Also see Dale Chihuly's installations in Jerusalem.   See also Lighting a Chihuly

Art Databases

The Internet Art DatabaseTM, commonly referred to as "dART" by its patrons, is an interactive venue allowing collectors to find art from over 3,000 participating Web sites.

Art enthusiasts can converse with others to critique or comment on a specific artist, or in many forums, converse with the artist directly. The intent is to create a communal marketplace for collectors, artists, and dealers.

GUILD.com is the world's most complete online collection of original contemporary art. GUILD.com provides its customers with 10,000 original works of art from 1,700 practicing artists and credibility unmatched in the online art community.

By removing barriers that have historically prevented people from purchasing art, GUILD.com achieves two important goals:

  • to help artists make a living as artists; and
  • to offer consumers easy access to a broad and fine selection of original contemporary art.

Environmental Art

Christo and Jean-Claude "Christo & Jeanne- Claude's works are entire environments, whether they are urban or rural. The artists disrupt one part of the environment, In doing so, we see and perceive the whole environment with new eyes and a new consciousness.

The effect is astounding. To be in the presence of one of these artworks is to have your reality rocked. You see things you have never seen before. You also get to see the fabric manifest things that cannot usually be seen like the wind blowing, or the sun reflecting in ways it had not before.

The effect lasts longer than the actual work of art. Years after every physical trace has been removed and the materials recycled, original visitors can still see and feel them in their minds when they return to the sites of the artworks.

There is no other way to describe that the feeling of that effect other than to say it is magical."

One of a Series

"Welcome to our Circle! We are a theatre in the round, a blazing bonfire that illuminates a wooded clearing and pulses with the rhythm of drums, a gallery in Soho, a quiet room where a group of women tell stories about their lives, a procession of masked dancers on Dia de los Muertes, a man sitting at a computer with a lit candle nearby, a woman who knots two pieces of white cord together, saying what she is re-tying in her life as she does it."
